Congratulations to Director John Garrison on His Retirement
Dembo Jones Director John Garrison has announced his retirement after more than 50 years as a CPA and ten years with Dembo Jones.
A graduate of George Washington University, John started his career with Ernst & Young and was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of the Howard County-based firm Garrison, Mathieson, Andrews & Falk.
Garrison, Mathieson, Andrews & Falk merged with Dembo Jones in 2012. “I can’t say enough about the merger,” said John. “We always concentrated on building personal relationships with clients, and Dembo Jones is of that mindset, so it was an ideal situation. Walter (Pennington) told us, ‘“We don’t want anything to change, just keep doing what you’re doing.”’
Over the last 20 years, John focused mainly on tax consulting and business valuation work. He earned the “Certified Valuation Analyst” and “Accredited in Business Valuation” designations.
“For 10 years, John’s leadership, wisdom, and mentorship have been integral to the growth and success of Dembo Jones,” said Jim Green, Dembo Jones Co-CEO. “The merger of the two firms will continue to pay dividends long into the future, and the entire Dembo Jones team wishes John the best.”
John served on the boards of a variety of corporations and nonprofits, including Columbia Bank, Howard County General Hospital, and the Estate Planning Council of Suburban Maryland. He was President of the Maryland/DC chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) as well as President of the Columbia Town Center Rotary Club.
In retirement, John and his wife Mary plan to split their time between Maryland and Florida, golfing and watching their five grandchildren play sports.
Congratulations, John!
