Senior Accountant
This position is responsible for performing the accounting and auditing services, tax return preparation, and tax planning for large, more complex engagements and may oversee two or more engagements simultaneously.
Skills and Requirements
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software
- Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
- CPA or CPA candidate with required educational credits
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct and supervise fieldwork
- Supervise and train associates
- Review and analyze client internal control
- Be responsible for completion of all financial statements, tax returns, and special services
- Review reports, statements, and returns processed by administrative staff
- Review all work papers, financial statements, and tax returns before submission to Manager for further review
- Look for opportunities to provide additional services to clients
- Plan engagements to achieve overall increased quality goals and reduce time required to perform an engagement (experienced seniors only)
- Prepare audit programs and time budgets
- Prepare management letters
- Communicate budget issues and escalate concerns to the Manager or Director as soon as possible
- Recognize potential problem areas in engagements and suggest potential solutions to the Manager or Director
- Actively participate in recruiting, coaching, and developing others
- Effectively use industry or community networks and other organizations to seek work opportunities for the firm; Continue to build a list of contacts or centers of influence that provide referral sources to the firm
- Demonstrate effective research skills and utilize appropriate research tools
- Produce a work product and apply problem-solving techniques that reflect an increasing technical/professional knowledge
- Delegate work to associates and interns and leverage resources whenever possible
- Participate in auditing and tax presentations and programs presented by the firm as well as contribute to material on the firm website
- Begin to develop industry expertise/specialization interests
- Proactively pursue professional development, completion of CPE requirements, and new opportunities for career and professional growth

Experience
2+ years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
