Culture & Community

Dembo Jones encourages and supports our employee’s activities within the firm, in their communities, and in their professional development.

  • We were proud to support the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce and our Senior Manager Nancy Guerra (right) as she was installed as the Chamber’s Vice President of Finance in January 2025. Joining Nancy at the Installation Reception were Director Anca Stradley, Manager Oana Turton, and Managing Director Brent Croghan.

  • A highlight at Dembo Jones’ holiday party in December 2024 was celebrating Clare Colleli’s and Kim Hoffman’s 40 years with Dembo Jones. We’re lucky to have them as part of our team and value their contributions to our clients’ successes over the decades. Congratulations and thank you, Clare and Kim!

  • All smiles – and holiday cheer! Dembo Jones’ team members celebrated the season in December at our firm-wide holiday party in Bethesda.

  • Dembo Jones staff are angels! Our Columbia office team members purchased clothing and toys as holiday gifts for children in a deserving Howard County family as part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Here, Kristen Muller, Kim Davis, Tina LaLuna, and Phil McWithey get the gifts ready to be delivered.

  • Dembo Jones Senior Manager Nancy Guerra (right) joined other volunteers from the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce to distribute Thanksgiving meals for clients of Nourishing Bethesda, the not-for-profit organization addressing food insecurity in Montgomery County, Maryland. Nancy is on the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

  • During an all-staff Day of Service in October, the Dembo Jones team helped with fall cleaning, mulched and planted flowers in a memorial garden at Troops First, a Maryland not-for-profit providing assistance to military veterans who have been wounded while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The veterans also shared their stories of recovery with the Dembo Jones staffers. For more details and photos of this meaningful day, click here.

  • Dembo Jones team members Tina LaLuna, Oana Turton and Clare Colleli took the fall to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland – Howard County. They rappelled down 12 floors of a Columbia, Maryland office building – the tallest in Howard County – at the Over the Edge fundraiser in September. Dembo Jones was a sponsor of this annual event.

  • It’s always a pleasure to host Natasha Schamberger, North America Regional Director of Allinial Global. Our membership in Allinial helps ensure that our clients have access to the latest information and resources, and our recent meeting with Natasha about industry trends helps make that happen.

  • Dembo Jones was the title sponsor of First Tee – Howard County’s 23rd Annual Golf Tournament on August 16 at Fairway Hills Golf Club in Columbia. Directors Brent Croghan, Jim Green, Chris Andracsek and Dan Geehreng hosted clients and colleagues at the sold-out event, named this year in memory of former First Tee Treasurer and Dembo Jones Director Bob Cardoni. First Tee  Howard County integrates the game of golf with a life skills curriculum that enables kids to build strength of character. Jim Green is the organization’s Treasurer.

  • Dembo Jones’ support of its communities is ongoing and our sponsorship of the Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Classic is an annual tradition. A gathering of golfing clients, friends and staff (including Director and CEO Brent Croghan, Director and CFO Dan Geehreng, Director Jim Green, and Senior Manager and GBCC Board Member Nancy Guerra) hit ‘em long and straight at the May 6th event. As the Presenting Sponsor of the event, we designated the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County as the beneficiary of funds raised at the outing.

  • Dembo Jones Director David Sherdel, Senior Associate TJ Rigg, and Senior Managers Christina Xenochristos and Suzanne Taylor were recently taken out to the ballgame as guests at a corporate networking event at Nationals Park. It was a beautiful evening and a great opportunity to meet other DC-area business leaders, but a tough one-run loss to the Minnesota Twins for the Washington Nationals.

  • Fore – and a Dembo Jones foursome at the 2024 Howard County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic on Monday, April 29 at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, MD: Dembo Jones Directors Jim Green and Dane Nettelbladt Jim Green, and clients Brooke Greer and Marco DePalma. Dembo Jones was a sponsor of the event. Congratulations to Marco, who won the Closest to the Pin contest by hitting a drive about 5 inches from the cup!

  • Dembo Jones’ Administrative Assistant Clare Colleli (on the right) took the plunge – to raise money for Special Olympic Maryland during its annual Polar Bear Plunge event in early February. Pictured with Clare are Mimi Goodman and Tracy O’Connor from Special Olympics MD Howard County. Clare is the Coordinator and Head Coach of the Special Olympics MD Howard County Alpine Ski Team.

  • HO HO HO… as in, we HOsted our annual HOliday celebration in December, featuring HOurs of festive cheer among more than 70 colleagues working remotely and in our offices, and a lively White Elephant gift exchange.

  • It’s become an annual tradition: Dembo Jones’ sponsoring the Police Pace event to benefit the Howard Council Police Foundation, and our Director Dane Nettelbladt running the 5K with his daughter Adley. This year’s race on September 10 funded police department programs and scholarships for officers’ continued education and training.

  • Dembo Jones staff and their families enjoyed lawn games, softball, basketball and plenty of good food at the firm’s annual Summer Outing in August.

  • As part of the professional development program he attended at Harvard University for accounting firm leaders, Dembo Jones’ Managing Partner Brent Croghan and his classmates made dinner at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts.

  • In May 2023, our employees volunteered at the Silver Spring and Baltimore locations of Leveling the Playing Field. We helped the non-for-profit organization move to its new Silver Spring warehouse and sorted the equipment that it donates to youth.
